José Melro Transfer from Benfica U21 to FC Barcelona
Barcelona showed interest in signing José Melro, a star from Benfica's youth academy. However, Benfica extended his contract until June 2027 and increased his release clause to 60 million euros.
Barcelona has shown interest in José Melro, a 20-year-old forward who plays for Benfica's youth teams. However, Rui Costa, president of Benfica, has intervened to stop the transfer.
FC Barcelona has been following José Melro for a while and considered him a market opportunity. Initially, they wanted him for their B team if it was promoted to Segunda División, which did not happen.
José Melro, a 19-year-old attacker who has scored 11 goals in 14 matches between the U19 and U23 championships, is under contract with Benfica until 2025. However, he is currently blocked from accessing the first team and would not be against leaving his training club. FC Barcelona is one of the clubs interested in him.
