Jorge Sánchez will return to his native country to represent Cruz Azul, according to the Mexican press. The 26-year-old has already represented two teams in the Liga MX: Santos Laguna, the training club, and América, rival and current champion in the title, and had other Mexican and Brazilian clubs interested, including Botafogo. He moved to Ajax in 2022 for about five million euros, but after a somewhat inconsistent season, the solution was a loan to the dragons. In Portugal, he played 23 matches, only eight as a starter (863 minutes on the field), and two assists, which was not enough to convince the Portistas to stay longer. Jorge Sánchez is currently on stage with the Mexico team and will undergo medical examinations only when he finishes his participation in the Copa América, which takes place between June 21 and July 15.

Jorge Sánchez is leaving FC Porto to join Cruz Azul in Mexico. The deal was agreed upon by Cruz Azul and Ajax, the club that holds the economic rights of the player. The transfer fee is €3 million.
