João Neves Transfer from Benfica to Arsenal

Joao Neves has been linked with a move to Arsenal. However, Arsenal are prioritising moves in other areas.

Benfica are under pressure to sell Joao Neves, who is wanted by Arsenal. Arsenal is willing to pay around half of Joao Neves's release fee of €120 million. Neves is frustrated with Benfica's offer of a new deal with an increased salary and a release fee of €150m, which he finds considerably lower than some of Benfica’s biggest earners. He is unlikely to return to the negotiating table.

Two English clubs have shown interest in João Neves and are willing to pay €60 million for the 19-year-old midfielder. Benfica is currently holding onto the €120 million release clause, but pressure is expected to increase. Arsenal has been mentioned by the British press as a possible destination.

There was a surprising twist recently when journalist Ben Jacobs revealed that Arsenal, who had only been rarely linked with him up to that point, were probably the more serious about signing him. However, despite the fresh links to Arsenal, there may yet be another surprise.

Having been rejected by Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, Arsenal are ready to rival Man Utd for the signature of Benfica's Joao Neves.

Benfica is resisting the interest of some of the main European clubs, especially from the Premier League, where information continues to arrive about Arsenal as potential buyers of the young midfielder's pass. The price set for the player is €120 million.

Joao Neves has been mentioned as a possible alternative for Arsenal in midfield. Neves has been scouted by Arsenal, Man United, Man City... all clubs interested but nothing is advanced at this stage. Neves’ price tag is double compared to Zubimendi as his release clause at Benfica is €120m.
