The 19-year-old central defender has joined from Sporting on loan until June 2025. He is a young Portuguese prospect who has been called up to the U-20 national team for two friendly matches against Norway on September 5 and Poland four days later. João Muniz, born in Ribeira Brava, Madeira, and also of Brazilian nationality, played for Sporting's B team after participating in pre-season with the main team. The player trained with his new teammates this morning before joining the Portuguese national team.

Rúben Amorim, Sporting's coach, released João Muniz, who will work at Rio Ave this season. Muniz, 19 years old, can play as a central defender or left-back and is expected to join the under-23 team of Vila do Conde. Rio Ave receives the player on loan and places high hopes on João Muniz, who will be able to gain competitive experience in Vila do Conde.
