João Félix leaving FC Barcelona?
João Félix has left FC Barcelona.
Felix took a massive pay cut to join Barcelona in the summer, but it is unclear if he is willing to do so again. If Barcelona are unable to sign him because they wouldn't be able to register him, he really would have to stay in Madrid - or, perhaps, move to Saudi Arabia.
João Félix was loaned to FC Barcelona with an option to buy, however, his performance has not been satisfactory enough for Barcelona to pay the €60M asked by Atlético. The player's return to Atlético is being seriously considered by the club. João Félix had not convinced during his three and a half years in Madrid, but the financial stake seems to take precedence over the desire to get rid of an element that has never got along with Diego Simeone. If Félix returns to Atlético, it remains a major question whether he really has a chance to stay there with Simeone on the bench.
Loaned player with very few options to continue.
João Félix is far from guaranteed a place at Barcelona next season and may return to Atlético de Madrid. The sports daily 'AS' recalls the contract renewal with the colchoneros until 2029 before the loan and the fact that he has not become "essential" in Xavi's accounts. So far, Félix has scored ten goals and provided six assists in 41 games for the blaugrana, far from being bad numbers, despite having lost his starting spot in recent games. Moreover, the Portuguese international has already expressed his desire to continue in Catalonia.
Loaned with a purchase option by Atlético de Madrid, he nevertheless has honorable statistics (10 goals, 6 assists). But he is a substitute, surpassed by players like Raphinha or Lamine Yamal. While Joan Laporta has shown confidence about his future, nothing is certain yet.
