Jeroen Zoet Transfer from Spezia to FC Groningen
Joroen Zoet, who is in contract expiration with Spezia, is getting closer to leaving the club. Groningen, a newly-promoted club in Eredivisie, has reportedly made a move for the experienced goalkeeper. Groningen has offered a two-year contract with an option to pair the class '91 with the current holder Hidde Jarius, as reported by Il Secolo XIX. By Monday, the parties could close leaving Spezia, with whom talks are still ongoing, empty-handed. The club has twice raised its offer, but external factors have also complicated matters.
Joroen Zoet's renewal with Spezia is not yet in the closing phase even though a couple of weeks ago it seemed that his agent Frank Schouten had found a basic agreement for another two seasons with a clause that the agreement would not be deposited in case of relegation to Serie C. The parties decided to postpone everything until after Spezia-Venezia. With safety acquired, Zoet gave his agent the mandate to verify the position with the club also in light of two requests for a return to his homeland, including that of just promoted Eredivisie's Groningen, even though at the moment the option to stay in Italy remains in the mind of the player with his agent who should meet again during the week with the management to try to close the deal.
