Jan Mejdr Transfer from Sparta Praha to Hansa Rostock
Hansa Rostock has signed Jan Mejdr from Sparta Prague. Mejdr, a 29-year-old right-back, joins Rostock after sporadically appearing for Sparta Prague last season. This is his first stint abroad.
Jan Mejdr (29) is set to transfer from the Czech top club Sparta Prague to Hansa Rostock. Mejdr brings with him the experience of 63 first-league and championship round games (1 goal) and 119 second-league matches (5 goals) in his homeland. During his time with Sparta Prague, he claimed the Czech championship in 2023 and achieved the double of championship and national cup victory in the summer of 2024. On the international stage, he has participated in the Champions League qualification twice and the Europa Conference League qualification twice. Mejdr remarked, 'At 29, this is my first opportunity to play abroad. When I heard Hansa was interested, I was eager to seize the chance to join an ambitious club overseas. I know Hansa is a prominent club in northern Germany with passionate fans. Watching the first season game against Stuttgart, I was impressed by the atmosphere and the supporters, which greatly influenced my decision.' Hansa's sporting director, Amir Shapourzadeh, is confident that Mejdr will quickly make his mark in Rostock: 'With his dynamism, speed, and experience, Jan is a great fit for our team. He will introduce healthy competition on the right wing, which will benefit us as a squad. He is a resilient yet quick player who seeks depth and can deliver crosses. Additionally, Jan's strong heading ability will be an asset both defensively and offensively.' Mejdr will don the number 19 jersey for the upcoming season and will join team training on Thursday afternoon.
