James Rodriguez had been followed by Barranquilla but ultimately opted for Club León. Although there was interest from various clubs, such as Banfield, Boca Juniors, and Racing Club, the Colombian midfielder made the decision to commit his future to Mexico. Reports from TUDN indicated that Rodriguez had agreed to join Club León on a one-year contract with an additional year as an option. While currently in Italy for the Kings League, he is expected to complete his free transfer after ending his contract with Rayo Vallecano.
