Gustav Christensen has been playing more in the second than in the first team at Hertha BSC (19 Regionalliga games, twelve in the Bundesliga's lower house). Therefore, he is leaving the capital club at least temporarily and is moving on loan until the end of the season to Ingolstadt. FC Ingolstadt 04 has secured an option to buy.

Hertha BSC is reportedly looking to loan out Danish U20 international Gustav Christensen during the winter transfer window. The publication 'kicker' has indicated that there is interest from clubs in the 3rd division and foreign leagues, particularly in the Benelux region. It has been noted that Christensen has struggled for playing time under coach Cristian Fiél, having made only three brief appearances in the league and cup, while spending most of his time in the Regionalliga Nordost with Hertha's second team. Last season, he managed to make nine appearances in the first half of the season but has not succeeded in establishing himself. His contract in Berlin is set to run until 2027.
