Wegkamp has significant experience with 248 third division matches, 151 regional league appearances, and three appearances each in the first and second Bundesliga. He is expected to be a key player and leader for the team both on and off the field. Wegkamp scored five goals and provided five assists in the last third division season, and played a crucial role in Münster's promotion to the third division with 22 goals in 33 games the previous year.
