Gernot Trauner Transfer from Feyenoord to TSG Hoffenheim
Hoffenheim made a last attempt to sign Gernot Trauner with an improved offer. However, Feyenoord was not convinced and decided to keep the defender at least until the end of the season. Trauner himself was reportedly somewhat charmed by the German offer and was interested in playing in the Bundesliga.
Feyenoord is no longer worried about Gernot Trauner leaving for Hoffenheim. The Austrian defender had shown interest in moving to the Bundesliga, but the transfer deal fell through. According to Kicker, Trauner was seen as an ideal solution by Hoffenheim, who were in search of a leader to aid in their fight against relegation. Trauner had communicated his wish to depart to Feyenoord, but the two clubs failed to reach an agreement on the transfer terms. The exact reasons for the breakdown are unclear, but it is suggested that Hoffenheim might have been interested in a loan deal with an option to purchase. Furthermore, there were possible concerns about the perception of the transfer, given that Hoffenheim's new sporting director Andreas Schicker and coach Christian Ilzer are Austrian, and the team already includes two Austrian players, Alexander Prass and Florian Grillitsch. The fan medium 1908.nl claims that Feyenoord received an offer for Trauner but did not agree to the conditions proposed by the German club.
