Gary Medel Transfer from Boca Juniors to Universidad Católica

Gary Medel made his way back to Universidad Católica following a short five-month stint at Boca Juniors. He reportedly expressed dissatisfaction at Boca due to limited playing time under the new management of Fernando Gago, which led to his decision to return to Universidad Católica in hopes of regaining his passion for football. Despite the situation, Medel maintained a positive relationship with Boca's management, including Juan Román Riquelme, and expressed gratitude for the opportunity provided by the club. Although his contract with Boca was initially set to last until the end of 2025, he chose to end it prematurely to rejoin his former team.

Gary Medel rescinded his contract with Boca Juniors, which was originally due to expire in December this year. According to the Chilean press, he has everything arranged to return to Universidad Católica, the club where he was developed as a player. The announcement of his arrival is expected in the coming days.

Gary Medel is expected to terminate his contract with Boca Juniors next week. It is highly likely that he will join Universidad Católica in Chile. This move signifies the end of his second period with Boca Juniors, where he returned in mid-2024 but did not manage to score any new goals or win titles. It was reported that his relationship with club president Juan Román Riquelme played a crucial role in his initial return to Boca from Vasco da Gama on a free transfer. Although he was initially included in the squad, he reportedly struggled to secure a regular position, partly due to an injury and managerial changes.
