Wenderson Galeno leaving Porto?
The transfer to Saudi Arabia did not advance. The player is still with FC Porto, and his performance has been praised by the coach despite the financial implications of the failed transfer.
Galeno's transfer to Saudi Arabia failed. He was reintegrated into FC Porto's training.
Galeno remained at Porto because the Saudi club preferred another player.
André Villas-Boas turned down a 40 million euro offer from Saudi Arabia for Galeno. FC Porto deemed that losing such a versatile player would represent a significant sporting loss for the team managed by Vítor Bruno. Galeno's contract with FC Porto extends until June 2028 and includes a release clause of 60 million euros. This season, he has been one of the team's key players, netting five goals in five games, despite being deployed as a left-back in recent matches, although his original position is as a left-winger.
The president of FC Porto admitted that offers were received for Galeno. The club is considering these offers while keeping in mind the need to comply with UEFA's financial fair-play requirements.
Galeno is difficult to acquire as Porto intends to sell him outright for around 40 million euros.
Vítor Bruno commented that it is unusual for someone who is a Brazilian international like Galeno.
