It is noted that his current contract includes a release clause valued at £38m (€45.7m, $47.5m), which has the potential to increase to £43m (€51.8m, $53.8m) as the transfer window continues. River Plate is said to prefer a sale later in the year to attract more interest and aim for a price closer to the player's release clause.
