Francis Coquelin Transfer to Nantes
Francis Coquelin, a French midfielder, is joining Nantes until the end of the season after successfully passing a medical examination on Friday morning. He has been a free agent since leaving Villarreal last summer. Coquelin had previously almost signed with Nantes at the beginning of January, but a hamstring issue prevented the deal. He recovered at a sports center in Marbella under the supervision of physical trainer Grégory Dupont, prompting FC Nantes to reconsider the transfer last weekend.
Francis Coquelin, a 33-year-old midfielder, was on the verge of joining Nantes after becoming a free agent following the conclusion of his contract with Villarreal last summer. The French player, who has a history of playing for top European clubs such as Arsenal, Valencia, and Villarreal, had reportedly reached a preliminary agreement with Nantes for a six-month engagement. Coquelin was reportedly drawn to the opportunity of joining Nantes and was expected to visit La Jonelière on Saturday to finalize the deal and familiarize himself with the club's environment. However, a muscular injury, which might sideline him for at least two weeks, has significantly reduced the likelihood of his signing.
