Florentino leaving Benfica?
Juventus Turin has made contact with Benfica's management to explore a possible transfer of Florentino. Benfica's president, Rui Costa, is working on a contract extension for Florentino, which would include a significant salary increase. Florentino is currently under contract with Benfica until 2027.
Florentino, a 24-year-old midfielder, is considered an important asset for the upcoming season by Benfica. Despite having market interest, especially from England, the decision has been made to keep him on the roster. Florentino's contract runs until 2027, and he renewed in October 2022, with a new termination clause set at €120 million. He had offers to leave in January of this year and even received a concrete proposal in the order of €30 million from a Premier League club, not Everton, who has long had the player on the list of potential acquisitions. However, the proposal was rejected by Benfica's SAD, largely due to the influence of coach Roger Schmidt, who did not want to lose him and ended the season with him as a starter in the team.
