Before his official transfer to Girona, Donny Van de Beek was loaned to Eintracht Frankfurt in the previous winter transfer window. Girona had shown interest in acquiring him on loan at that time, but the player and Manchester United chose to move to Germany instead.
Donny Van de Beek joined Eintracht Frankfurt last term on loan with the German side holding a £9.5 million option to sign him permanently. However, the option was refused after he failed to impress in eight appearances for the club.
Donny van de Beek was on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt in January but made only 4 appearances. The German club decided not to exercise the option to purchase him for approximately 10 million euros.
