Valentin Gómez Transfer from Vélez Sarsfield to Bologna

Valentín Gómez, a 21-year-old defender from Vélez, is set to be transferred to Bologna in Italy. It has been reported that the club has reached a verbal agreement with an investment group, which will acquire a percentage in exchange for 8 million euros net. Vélez will retain 10% of the player's rights. The transfer is anticipated to be finalized soon, with Gómez expected to sign a contract for 18 months, lasting until June of the following year. He is likely to travel to Europe by Monday or Tuesday. Bologna prevailed over Lazio, which had also expressed interest in the player. It was noted that Gómez was eager to progress in his career and had been training separately during the pre-season.

Valentín Gómez is currently one of the most in-demand defenders on the market. Following an unsuccessful attempt to move to the Brasileirao, an investment group is now stepping in to help him achieve his aspiration of playing in Europe. Bologna, a club where fellow Argentinians Santi Castro and Benja Domínguez are part of the team, is among the most interested parties. According to TyC Sports, the investment group, which is not Foster Gillet, has made an offer of approximately 9 million euros (around 10 million dollars) for 80% of his transfer rights. The remaining percentage is split with 10% going to Vélez Sarsfield and 10% to the player himself. It has been reported that Gómez has asked for the offer to be accepted so that he can continue his career in European football.

Bologna showed interest in Valentín Gómez and committed to making an offer to Vélez Sarsfield. Bologna previously acquired Nicolás Domínguez from Vélez in 2020 and Santiago Castro in early 2024 for ten million euros.

Bologna is reportedly considering signing Valentin Gomez, a central defender from Velez Sarsfield, according to Gazzetta dello Sport. The club is assessing whether to proceed with the transfer immediately or to finalize the deal now with plans for Gomez to arrive in Italy by June, mirroring a previous transaction involving Santiago Castro. Both Gomez and another potential target from Velez, Christian Ordonez, are part of Bologna's strategy to invest in young, quality players during the January transfer window. This approach aligns with Bologna's ambition to strengthen the squad for the second half of the season, with the aim of securing a Champions League playoff spot under coach Vincenzo Italiano. The decision on Gomez's transfer could also be influenced by future player sales.
