VfL Bochum was in agreement with Christian Conteh for the transfer. However, the deal has unexpectedly collapsed. The main reason is that VfL wants to invest the limited available money in top-tier players rather than in breadth. The Bundesliga budget has dropped from 41 million Euros to currently 35 million Euros. Originally, the commitment of Conteh was intended for the 1st and 2nd league, but under the new conditions, VfL would have only taken him as a second league player.
