Liverpool almost signed Pumas star Cesar Huerta before the summer transfer window closed, but a late issue caused the deal to fall apart. Huerta, 23, has been in impressive form in the Mexican league. The Reds monitored him as Mohamed Salah's contract nears its end. Huerta was so close to joining Liverpool that he had his suitcase packed. However, negotiations hit a snag, and he remained at Pumas. Huerta said: "There was an issue. I had my suitcase ready, but it fell through because of an issue. I know that sooner or later, if I keep doing things right, I’ll get the opportunity."
