Cameron Archer, a 22-year-old forward, has officially joined Southampton from Aston Villa on a four-year contract. After returning to Aston Villa following Sheffield United's relegation, the transfer to Southampton gained momentum in recent days. Archer, who graduated from Villa Academy and had successful loan spells at Preston North End and Middlesbrough, helped England win the Under-21 European Championship last summer. He participated in pre-season with Aston Villa before joining Southampton in time for the season opener against Newcastle.
