Mainz is reportedly interested in acquiring 19-year-old Croatian offensive midfielder Borna Knezovic from Sassuolo. Knezovic has delivered strong performances in the youth league and has already debuted for Jong Croatia. The midfielder is currently making a significant impact at Sassuolo, where he has netted fifteen goals and contributed five assists in 30 matches for the youth team. Despite his achievements at the youth level, he has yet to make an appearance for Sassuolo's first team, although he has been on the bench twice this season. Mainz will need to enter negotiations with Sassuolo, as Knezovic remains under contract with the Italian club until 2027. Sassuolo had signed him on a free transfer from Cibalia in the summer of 2022.
