Abdoul Bamo Meité leaving Olympique Marseille?
Bamo Méïté was loaned to Montpellier HSC from Olympique de Marseille just before the winter transfer window closed. Initial contacts were made when Gasset was appointed, and despite delays, the loan was completed due to Gasset's appreciation of the player.
Bamo Meïté, a central defender from Olympique de Marseille, has been officially loaned to Montpellier Hérault Sport Club with an option to buy set at 8 million euros. This move comes during the winter transfer window as Meïté was pushed towards the exit at Marseille. The announcement was made on February 3, 2025, by Olympique de Marseille's official Twitter account.
Bamo Meite, a fringe player at Marseille, has recovered from an injury but is not part of the first-team picture. FC Lorient has been named as another potential destination for him on loan. However, Lorient's club president has stated that Marseille wants to sell him permanently, and the door is open only for a permanent departure.
Bamo Méité has not received many offers and hasn't played since mid-September. OM is open to offers and prefers a loan with a mandatory purchase option.
Bamo Meïté, who plays as a central defender for Olympique de Marseille, is being considered for a potential departure in the winter transfer window. Although he has been used sparingly by coach Roberto De Zerbi this season, Marseille is not willing to agree to a simple loan for the former Lorient player. The club ideally prefers either a permanent transfer or a loan with an obligation to purchase. Meïté was acquired for 10.5 million euros. Recently, Montpellier expressed interest in Meïté; however, given their current position as 18th in Ligue 1, they are likely unable to meet Marseille's financial demands.
Bamo Meité, after experiencing a challenging summer and limited playing time under coach Roberto De Zerbi, is reportedly seeking to leave Olympique de Marseille this winter in order to gain more playtime and confidence. Olympique de Marseille is said to be open to offers and has set the conditions for the departure of their 23-year-old central defender, who remains under contract until June 2028. The club's preferred option is a loan with a mandatory purchase option. It has been indicated that a short-term loan does not fit into the plans of Medhi Benatia, who would need to find a replacement should Meité leave. Montpellier had reportedly shown interest in Meité to help stabilize their defense.
Olympique de Marseille is open to offers for Bamo Meïté. If no interesting offer arrives, he will continue at the club. The club is targeting the English market for his transfer.
