Arthur Okonkwo leaving Arsenal?

Arthur Okonkwo has been transferred permanently to Wrexham. He initially joined Wrexham on loan from Arsenal on Transfer Deadline Day in September of the previous year. He made 40 appearances in all competitions last season, keeping 16 clean sheets, and helped the Red Dragons secure promotion to League One by finishing second in Sky Bet League Two. He has now committed his future to Wrexham, signing a contract until the end of the 2026/27 season, and will officially join on July 1 after leaving Arsenal.

Wrexham have announced the permanent signing of Arthur Okonkwo on a free transfer. The 22-year-old goalkeeper initially signed for the Red Dragons on loan from Arsenal last summer for their League Two campaign. Okonkwo made 40 appearances for the club, 36 of which came in the league to help the Welsh outfit seal back-to-back promotions. Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney revealed to talkSPORT earlier in the month that they were in talks to sign him again after it was confirmed he would leave Arsenal. His permanent transfer has now been completed, with McElhenney helping to announce the deal with a funny post on social media. Okonkwo, who has signed a deal with Wrexham until 2027, has called time on a 15-year stay with Premier League giants Arsenal.

Wrexham are seeking to make a deal for former Arsenal goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo permanent after he spent the campaign on loan at the club last season. Okonkwo has since been released by Arsenal. Co-owner Rob McElhenney said there's a very good chance of signing him. They are talking to Arthur actively right now. They know he wants to come back to Wrexham and they definitely want him.
