A. Hountondji Transfer from Burnley to Standard Liège
Standard Liège has signed Andreas Hountondji on a loan for the rest of the season. The negotiations between Standard and Burnley were challenging because Standard was initially unwilling or unable to cover the full salary of Hountondji. Despite these difficulties, the two clubs have reached an agreement, and Hountondji has signed with Standard.
Andreas Hountondji, who was transferred to Burnley from SM Caen for 4 million euros, is considering a temporary departure from Burnley after failing to make a significant impact. He has participated in 10 matches, accumulating a total of 296 minutes without scoring or providing an assist. Discussions are ongoing with Standard for a potential six-month loan without a purchase option. Burnley has also expressed interest in Jacob Ondrejka and might incorporate him into the deal. The 23-year-old French striker, who had previously enjoyed a fruitful loan period at Rodez, scoring 16 goals and contributing 7 assists in 39 matches, has found it challenging to replicate that success at Burnley and SM Caen, where he netted only 2 goals in 33 appearances for Caen. Both Standard and Royal Antwerp are considering options to enhance their attacking capabilities, with financial limitations prompting them to explore players like Hountondji, who have struggled to succeed elsewhere. The Belgian clubs are proceeding with caution, mindful of his performance record in the Championship, which is not regarded as superior to that of the Jupiler Pro League.
