Alvaro Fernandez, who has seen his loan with Benfica turned into a permanent deal. Benfica confirmed they triggered the purchase clause in Fernandez's contract, which reports suggest was worth around £5m. He spent the first half of the season with Granada in La Liga before linking up with Benfica, where he impressed enough over 16 appearances to earn a permanent move to the club.

Alvaro Fernandez, who had joined Manchester United from Real Madrid in 2020 and then went out on loan to Preston in 2022/23 and Granada in the first half of the season, was snapped up by Benfica on loan. Benfica has now triggered a £5million deal to sign him permanently after he helped them to finish second in the Portuguese top-flight. The transfer includes both a buy-back clause and a sell-on clause.
