The Saudi club's officials traveled to Lyon to finalize the transfer. Lacazette had also agreed to a two-year contract with a net annual salary of 15 million euros. However, he ultimately decided to honor his contract with Lyon and play in the European competition with his team.

Alexandre Lacazette was offered a lucrative deal by Al-Quadsiah, with nearly 30 million EUR net salary spread over 2 years. Lyon was not strongly opposed to selling their striker for a fee that could have reached 10 million EUR.
