Afonso Freitas, a left-back, has been officially announced by Marítimo, a club in the Segunda Liga, after having played only two matches for their Madeira Island rivals, Nacional. He played only 19 minutes in the Primeira Liga and participated in a defeat against União de Leiria in the Taça de Portugal. He will now compete with Fábio China and Pedro Empis for a position on the left defensive flank at Marítimo.
